Yankees Back on Top

Sports Report

The Yankees are victorious once again. It almost feels like baseball is back to its roots. The ole’ king pin (Steinbrenner) said it himself that the universe is back on track now that the Yankees are back on top. The Phillies played tough but I dont think they could match up with the depth of the Yankees. Both lineups were stacked one through six with equal amount of talent but different styles respectably. I am not a die-hard Yankee like my dad haha… but I am a fan of the game and cant hate on the winningest team in American sports.

Many will say that the Yankees bought the World Series, but if that’s the case then why weren’t the Mets, Tigers, or Astros (all respectively over 100-thousand dollar payroll) in the playoffs? For any of you that have played team sports and or have been fortunate to have won a championship would know that no matter how good your team is, anything can happen good or bad and you still have to produce with some luck involved. I must say though, that it was quite interesting how the Yankees lost game 5 in order to see have the clinching game 6 at home in front of Yankee nation. And how ironic is it that Andy Petitte started the game with Posada behind the dish, Jeter at short, and Rivera closing the door. Not to mention Joe Girardi commanding the crew for his first time. That is the same four players that have been the core of their championship run in the 1990’s and 2000 at the “Old Yankee Stadium”. Maybe Steinbrenner wanted to show the Yankee faithful and the baseball nation that it’s a new stadium with the same standards and that’s Championship or bust.

Happy end of Baseball Season to all!! : ( A hundred or so day and it starts again : )

Poaching......

Last week I (Josh) gotta call from Squirrel at 4pm asking me if I was down for a little poach mission with him, Jaret Brantley and Riley Bangerter to hit up this little drop up in Rio Vista at a golf course. Of course you know I'm always down for a little mission, especially if there's a chance of getting in trouble so I obliged. Once we arrived at the spot we quickly realized that the chances of us getting confronted by someone, whether it be management, a concerned resident or the boys in blue, was about 100%. You see, Rio Vista Golf Course is a gated, retirement golf community and one thing I've learned from my days working at country clubs is that besides a lot of money, people who retire on golf courses also have a lot of time, time to be nosey. It also wasn't helping our situation that the spot was on the corner of the entrance into the community and was a stoplight. We were doomed. But being the consummate professionals we are we went ahead and hit it up. The next half hour was a treat. Jaret and Squirrel both got one hit in before the GM of the community came smashing down the road honking the horn in his little s-10 and shouting profanely at us that we were not to be there and the cops were on their way. We told him we were sorry and that we didn't see any No Trespassing signs, we weren't there to damage anything and that we were leaving.......after one more hit. He didn't like that and just went OFF on me while I struggled to get the winch started for Jarret who was strapped in ready to go. Jarret got the 3rd and final hit and we packed up our stuff while the GM continued to curse us and take pictures of our license plates and tried to get pics of our faces. We made it out of there before 'The Boys' showed up and we got into real trouble. Here's a little shot I took with my iPhone of Squirrel doin his thing while running the winch....also check out Riley's Blog for more.....
